The Director has received his PhD from Imperial College, University of London, and his MSc. in Geology from Western Michigan University, USA and. BSc in Geology/Chemistry from King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

He has served 25 years in Saudi Aramco in petroleum geology related work. Ibrahim has a strong background of the geology of Saudi Arabia, its reservoirs and fields, reservoir characteristics and development. His PhD dissertation was in the Khuff Formation depositional environments, digenesis, reservoir characteristics, development and reservoir prediction in Ghawar Field. He later, extended the reservoir prediction studies of the Khuff to include all Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries.

Ibrahim has worked as geologist in several areas including: well site operations, fields' development, mapping, and reservoir predictions, of the Khuff, Arab, Fadhili, Hanifa, Unayzah and Jauf Reservoirs.

He has held several management positions, the last two positions were the Chief Geologist of Southern are fields, including Ghawar field, and the Chief Geologist of Geological Research & Development in Saudi Aramco. He has presented and published several papers in the Saudi oil and gas fields, attached is a list of theses presentations and publications.

Ibrahim has initiated and organized (as the general secretariat) the first Geosciences Conference in the Gulf (GEO 1994). Ibrahim has initiated the GEO 94 while he was the president of the Dhahran Geosciences Society (DGS) in 1991. He initiated the first joint symposium between DGS and SPE (local chapter) in 1990 and represents the DGS. He represented Saudi Aramco in the ADIPEC for several years. He organized the panel on the challenges of current and future reservoir management in ADIPEC 2002. He initiated and organized the carbonate porosity prediction forum and called for its consortium research in the Gulf. (GEO-2004)

Ibrahim was involved in organizing many geological field trips in Saudi Aramco, including the phanerozoic outcrops; he organized a Paleozoic special field trip to solve the Permian sands bodies’ nomenclature in Saudi Arabia.
